ULD CARE - Learning

The importance of continuous training

Every area of aviation requires extensive and continuous training: the flight deck, cabin crew, maintenance staff, air traffic controllers, and aviation safety.

ULD Operations and Handling is no exception, but the almost unique manner in which ULDs are handled by various parties both on and off airports makes maintaining an acceptable standard of knowledge a particularly challenging task.

Delivering cost-effective ULD training is difficult. The subject is not exactly suitable for a classroom environment and conducting any kind of meaningful training activities in the cargo or ramp zones is not practical. Online training is a partial solution, but it has its limits, particularly when it comes to determining the amount of information the trainee has retained.

ULD CARE provides industry solutions

Here are the initiatives developed by ULD CARE with regard to training.

In collaboration with Airport College International, ULD CARE developed a series of 60-second videos conveying the basic principles of safe and efficient ULD operations using effective video techniques. Given the challenging physical conditions and high turnover that characterize many of the industry’s operating environments, training the workforce that handles ULDs is a daily challenge. Having a simple but effective training solution is the answer to reducing damage and repair costs as well as improving safety. ULD60seconds is a free tool offering 60-second awareness videos on safe ULD inspection, handling and storage procedures.
