The ULD Climate Impact Label
Developed by ULD CARE
Developed by ULD CARE
The ULD Climate Impact Label is an initiative developed by ULD CARE to measure and communicate the environmental performance of Unit Load Devices (ULDs). Currently, the label applies to AKE containers only. The label provides a clear, product-specific rating (from A++ to F) based on the containers weight. Additionally, the label also contains information on spare parts, materials and second-life potential.
Air cargo containers directly influence aviation’s fuel efficiency, carbon footprint, and overall sustainability. Until now, the industry lacked a common standard to compare the climate impact of different ULDs. The ULD Climate Impact Label was created to close this gap, giving airlines, OEMs, and leasing companies a reliable way to assess and improve environmental performance.
Please note that the ULD Climate Impact Label is an industry assessment tool and does not constitute a legal certification, guarantee, or regulatory claim.
Helping OEMs showcase innovations in lightweight and sustainable ULD design.
Enabling airlines and lessors to make informed procurement choices aligned with climate goals.
Driving continuous improvement toward lower emissions and better lifecycle management of ULDs.
With the ULD Climate Impact Label, the industry gains a shared framework to measure progress and demonstrate commitment to reducing aviation’s climate impact.
